You have the great design houses. The great labels. You have Balmain, Balenciaga, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Dior, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Alexander Wang, you even have Barbara Bui. They all make wonderful clothes, carefully crafted, made to perfection. With this perfection, and the piece of cloth/embossment on the article, comes great price. Expensive. It's these large amounts that make these articles- coveted. Unique and something that not every Rinky, Tina and Shaloo own but YOU. You own it.
And then you have Steve Madden, Aldo, Nine West, Charles And Keith amongst others who make these same designs available to Rinky, Tina and Shaloo and even you, for a fraction of the price.
The pair of shoes you like, by Givenchy/Balmain/Balenciaga/Gucci, needn't require you to break open that piggy bank. (A MASSIVE piggy Bank, might I add) All one really needs to do is hop into anyone of these stores and there you have it, Steve Madden, Aldo, Nine West, Charles and Keith or Shoedazzle... and pretty much EVERY designer shoe has a customised version on sale there. Just a tad different... And MUCH cheaper. Is that a good thing or not?
I can't really tell.
I mean, there's a lot of thought that goes into designing a pair of shoes. And if Lanvin did design a pair of shoes that appealed to most... They should reap the benefits of it, nah? I mean, then you have Steve Madden going ahead and doing the exact same pair, just maybe a tone lighter, and MUCH lighter on the pocket, which helps STEVE MADDEN rake in more money. While I think it's awesome that, that way, everyone can afford luxury style and what not... But then, it loses its exclusivity, no?
I mean, see for yourself. First I showed you them Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and now these Balenciaga shoes.
Steve Madden's killin' em one by one.
